Your Go Team
Hi friends, colleagues and clients!
Several years ago I was having a difficult time digging into and staying with a project. Working solo wasn't working. So I decided to host a weekly "Go Team" zoom meetup, where a group of us could be an accountability team. It worked quite well. I have a project i'm trying to gain traction on. Working solo isn't working. So I am reviving The Go Team for eleven weeks. HOW IT WORKS: (P.S. for those of you that joined that original team, this version is a little different) 1. Join the zoom call. (Turn off your microphone*, turn on your camera*.) 2. Type your intention in the chat like "I am going to read 15 pages", "I will clean my desk", I will practice 6 yoga poses", etc. 3. Start working/practising/being/doing. After 38 minutes, I will ring a bell. Then - options: A. Return to the screen and wave goodbye. B. Add a one sentence note re your progress into the chat. C. Ignore the bell/us/zoom and keep going. After 40 minutes, the zoom call will automatically close. *Notes on mic off and camera on/off: - Our mics stay OFF from start to finish, to avoid getting caught up in conversation, or story telling, or distractions, or offering solutions, or socializing. (if you want to chat with any of the participants, please make plans outside of the call.) - Camera on at start - why: We start with the camera on briefly to to set the tone of accountability. "Showing your face" says "I am here. I am present. I am committed." It also shows you are a real live person, which creates a tone of safety. - Camera on or off during session: It is totally up to you and your comfort level. Some of us found it comforting and/or motivating to see that someone was right there with us. This doesn't mean that you have to move your camera to follow you around. I recall from last time, someone used the time to clean their office and so every once in a while we'd see them wander past the camera. |
